Conference on promoting investment with the participation of more than 1,000 Japanese enterprises

This afternoon 9-7 in Hanoi, the Ministry of Planning and Investment in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, Japan Trade Promotion Organization (JETRO) and Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) held Vietnam – Japan online investment promotion conference.

This is the first time a major investment promotion conference has been held online with the participation of more than 1,000 Japanese enterprises from the demand points in Japan and around the world, expressing concerns and expectations of the Japanese business community to Vietnam.

The conference provided Japanese enterprises with the latest information on Vietnam’s business and investment environment, in which special attention was paid to newly promulgated important legal documents such as the amended Investment Law, Amended Enterprise Law, Public – Private Partnership (PPP) Law as well as information related to the preparation of land, labor, and energy conditions in Vietnam. “Welcoming” new foreign investment flows, creating the most favorable conditions for investors to do business successfully in Vietnam.

Affirming Vietnam is a safe country, a leading attractive investment destination for Japanese enterprises after the pandemic, Chief Representative of Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) – Representative Office in Hanoi, Mr. Agui Toru emphasized that JBIC assessed Vietnam as a key region and an important partner country of JBIC in many fields such as infrastructure, production and resources; assisting Japanese SMEs in the 3rd position in Vietnam market with 82 projects.

According to a survey of Japanese enterprises investing in Asia and Oceania by Japan Trade Promotion Organization (JETRO) in February 2020, 63.9% of Japanese enterprises are doing business in Japan. On behalf of the Vietnamese side, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Vu Dai Thang said that with the increasingly synchronized legal framework, the channels connecting the domestic and foreign markets are increasingly open, plus the potentials, advantages and determination of the Government, ministries, localities in improving the business investment environment to attract foreign investment, Japanese enterprises in particular and foreign investors. In addition, in general, there will be more and more successful business investment opportunities in Vietnam.
